The Summer X-Games seem to push the limits every year. 2010 was no exception. Day 1 featured what has become a much anticipated marquee event at each X-Games, the Mega Ramp Big Air. Said to be conceived by Mat Hoffman, this event constantly brings out the premier skateboarders in the game that are willing to lay it all on the line for a chance at the podium at X-Games Big Air. Not surprisingly this event is generally dominated by the guy who has one in his own backyard, Bob Burnquist. This year however it was Jake Brown who was able to repeat as X-games gold winner. Triple 8’s own Adam Taylor had an insanely impressive run (click here to see the run) but finished at 5th place leaving him hopeful for next year.
Triple 8’s newest addition, Gaby Ponce, skated in to X-Games 16 fresh off a dew tour victory in Boston. There was no doubt she was able to maintain that momentum as she recorded her first ever X-Games GOLD by edging out Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins and Karen Jones. Big congrats goes out to Gaby for her dominating performance.
T8 athletes weren’t done though… The weekend was capped off by the Big Air Rail Jam on Day 3 of X-Games 16. Both Elliot Sloan and Adam Taylor laid down sick runs. But it was Elliot’s frontside smith grind over the gap that propelled him to the podium for a bronze medal.
Big congratulations goes out to the Triple 8 team for their performance at X-Games 16.
