Jonathan Cheever first learned to ski at age eight at Nashoba Valley but it wasn’t until a free snowboard lesson at Attitash Bear Peak in New Hampshire that he realized he found the right sport for him. With consistent top-10 finishes over the last couple years it was only a matter of time before a breakthrough season like 2010. The 2010 season gave Cheever some personal bests when he found himself on the podium with a second place World Cup finish in Stoneham and placed in the top-10 at the Winter X Games. In 2011, Cheever became US National Champion along with finishing 3rd overall in the World.

For 2011 you were the US National Champion! What were your expectations going into the season and what went through you mind when you found out you were #1?
Being US National Champ is awesome. I enjoyed it. However, the day after 11' Nats I had a 6 am plane flight to Quebec for the next World Cup so had to focus on that. I podiumed there too, and it started a streak for me.
Every race I enter I expect to win. I don't race for 2nd. I think that is the mentality to have. Be prepared to win, and be satisfied with good riding even if the day doesn't end with hardware. If it doesn't go well, learn from the mistakes and improve. SBX is a toss of the dice sometimes. Sending 6 dudes down a course, where most of the time there is only room for 1 can get hairy.
How does a typical day in the life of Jonathan Cheever go?
I wake up and take it from there. My schedule is very crazy, so I try and concentrate on what is right in front of me.
What is the weirdest encounter you have had while on the road?
I am 100% sure it is not appropriate to post that on the website. The thing is, if everything was normal, then it wouldn’t be fun.
Why do you choose Triple 8 for your protective gear needs?
I love the style and function. Triple 8 has an awesome story behind the product too.
Words to live by?
You only have one life. Make sure you do it right.
